The Tasmanian Boobook and its remarkable journey across the Strait

New research from Monash University has been published about the Tasmanian Boobook and the discovery that the species is the only migratory owl species in Australia. Read more about the discovery here at The Conversation.

This research reflects that the Tasmanian Boobook is flying non-stop across the Bass Strait and not using King Island as a stopover point. It also highlights that the migratory routes across Bass Strait are important to preserve and protect. Further research into migratory routes across the Strait is needed.
